Hellscaper Patch Notes 4/14/23


Hi everyone,

We've been blown away by the response to Hellscaper so far, thank you to everyone who has played, commented, and especially to those who have left feedback in our feedback form!

Patch Notes

Bug fixes: 

  • Voids no longer increase across game-plays
  • Humans no longer double-die when adjacent to two or more #Monsters

Tiles added:

  • SpiderQueen 
  • MawBaby
  • Tombstone
  • Castle
  • Skeleton
  • TheCollector

Tiles Changed:

  • Tenements now count other #Buildings, not just tenements
  • Removed legion until we can figure out how to balance it
  • Fine tuned tags on a couple tiles
  • Tweaked a bunch of tile rarities to try and balance some strategies
  • "When Placed" effects, like golems, now occur predictably in a top-bottom, left-right order
  • Den now counts the largest pack of any #Monster, not just Werewolves
  • Werewolves now absorb any other packs of #Monsters, not just Vampires

Quality of life:

  • Progress bar redesign
  • Hover over tiles to view their effect
  • Tweaks to the end of game to try to make your points more clear (still working on this one!)

New Art:

  • Cinders / CinderDemon
  • Progress Bar

Rationale

We chose to prioritize adding more content over polishing the content we already have. You can see that in the new tiles we added, and in the tiles we tweaked to try and make more builds viable (I think we have succeeded on that!) We did fix the big bugs that we knew about (thank you again to everyone who left bug reports - we read all of them!), and are working on a couple of the big areas to polish, like the progress bar and the tooltips.
